The Parable of the Oreo

I love Oreo's. They are one of my favorite cookies, but I always used to find them maddening to eat! When you try to dip the cookie in milk it would always either crumble, or worse, you would drop it in, and then have to fish it out causing a terribly large mess.
However, I learned something just recently, if you take a fork and insert it into the filling of an Oreo and then submerge it into the milk (just until the bubbles stop) then you can eat it with no fuss, no muss, and even better, no MESS.
So why do I tell you about this fantastic trick? Because just like you need the proper tools and tactics to eat an Oreo without the stress, we all need proper tools and instruction to help us succeed in life.

It was once stated, "Don't motivate me, and not train me, you'll only frustrate me!" And so often throughout our lives, we receive all the motivation for 100 people and yet we have no idea how to make something happen. Fortunately, we have a merciful God, and a perfect Savior who have provided us with the proper tools and instruction to help us along the way.

There is a pattern, made for us by Jesus Christ. It is simple, but when applied, it changes our very nature, and it all rests on one principle, Faith in Jesus Christ. When we have faith in Jesus Christ, It leads us to do great things. The Book of Mormon states,

"But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye can give place for a portion of my words." (Alma 32:27)

As we try our best, and trust our Savior Jesus Christ, our lives begin to change. We see the world in a better light. The darkness that seems to encompass us on occasion is relieved, and we change for the better. Faith is simple. Just believe, and if that is all you can do, this scripture promises that it will be planted in our hearts.
Eating a cookie, now that's good stuff, but only if it's not giving you a headache to do it. Just like life, it can be great! But if we don't know how to make the 'great' happen, it's just nightmare. So while you're slipping your fork into the Oreo creme, try slipping Faith in Jesus Christ into your life. You might just find, it's the PERFECT solution.
